Ask Our Staff
  • Do you give discounts to aspiring police impersonators?

At Haloid, all customers pay the same price. Moreover, be careful of silly questions, as we will report a customer to their local authorities if we suspect them of government impersonation.

  • How does this radio compare to Rapid Radios and their Armageddon radios?

Rapid Radios are consumer-grade cellular radios; and not point-to-point conventional professional radios like the XTS5000. Rapid Radios use low-priority cellular data bandwidth from MVNO carriers. They need an active cellular data network to function, otherwise they will not work. If the cellular network goes down, which often happens in disasters, Rapid Radios is useless. A recent example of this was the LA fires.

The XTS5000 was made by Motorola for public safety users - including the U.S. military. According to Rapid Radio’s website, its devices are programmed in the United States, but made in another location that is not disclosed on its website. Despite our attempts to confirm, we still do not know where Rapid Radios devices are manufactured.

The XTS5000 allows the users to encrypt communications using their own non-breakable encryption keys - like a crypto currency wallet for example. In the event of a major security-related incident, the XTS5000 owner has total autonomy to control and secure their communication. With Rapid Radios, the user is dependent on the company - for encryption and cellular data access.

Finally, the Motorola XTS5000 is a public-safety and military-grade radio device that is proven to withstand the harshest environments. It is made by the #1 radio manufacturer in the world, Motorola. It was approved by the U.S. government to meet the strictest security requirements in order to be accepted for military use. Communications on the XTS5000, when encrypted, cannot be intercepted by a third party. The radio is a serious device for those who need secure and reliable communications.

  • Is AES is the highest encryption available for walkie talkies?

AES 256 bit is the highest form of encryption offered on Motorola radios.

  • Will this radio work in a Zombie scenario? Could it also be used a weapon to kill a Zombie?

It hasn’t been tested for a Zombie invasion but in theory it should offer reliable communication during one. Plus, since communications are encrypted, if a high-functioning Zombie acquires the sophistication to use a radio, they still wouldn’t be able to listen to you and other survivalists. As far as weapon, in theory you could, but that could damage the radio itself.

  • Is this also compatible with the fema interops channels like 154 range, if not what is recommended for 453mhz and ther 154mhz.

This is a single band UHF radio. It cannot do VHF. Also, you would need to confirm with FEMA on what equipment they requires, we do not have that information.

  • Would a 450-520mhz be able to be programmed to Allegheny County Fire, EMS and police in Pennsylvania?

You would need to verify this with the County radio admin. We do not know their radio system.
